Executive Directors

Carsten Mosch

Executive Director & CEO
Carsten Mosch is the CEO and principal Investor of Lodestone Namibia.

Mr. Mosch served as Managing Director in Global Markets for Deutsche Bank with over 19 years of experience in the international capital markets. In his last role he was Co-European Head of Structured and Liquid Rates Trading covering a broad range of debt instruments.

He decided to leave the banking industry in 2012 to become an entrepreneur and to fully focus on developing the Lodestone project.

David Hinsley

Executive Director & CFO
David Hinsley joined the board of LNPL as its Chief Financial Officer and a principle investor in early 2013.

Mr. Hinsley served as Managing Director at Deutsche Bank in Global and Emerging Markets in London and New York from 1999 until 2012. Mr. Hinsley served as the Head of Client Coverage in Latin America and was the Global Head of Interest Rate Structuring.

Johannes Marklin

Non-Executive Director
Johannes worked for 25 years in the German banking industry and he was running Deutsche Bank’s Private Debt Syndicate business for its Corporate Finance and Debt Capital Markets division.

In his roles, Johannes developed the financing activities for international corporate clients. Johannes holds a German diploma in Business Administration and a MBA from University of Wales.

James Grobler

Non-Executive Director
James Grobler, a Namibian national is a founding member and shareholder of LNPL.

Mr. Grobler is a logistics professional who has operated and owned trucking and transportation companies throughout southern Africa for over 30 years. Mr. Grobler was a pioneering logistics contractor who performed de-mining in Angola to enable the initiation of UNESCO food deliveries after the war of Namibian independence in the early 90’s.

Jan Joubert

Non-Executive Director
Jan Joubert has more than 40 years of experience as an exploration geologist and mineralogist in Southern Africa.

Mr. Joubert led the exploratory drilling team in 2006 and 2007 that discovered the Namibian uranium deposit on EPL 3138 on behalf of Extract Resources Namibia, Kalahari Minerals, and West Africa Gold Exploration. The uranium deposit is the second largest in the world and was bought by Swakop Uranium in 2012.

Mr. Joubert, a Namibian citizen, was the Head Mineralogist in Research and Development from 1981 to 1995 at Palabora Copper in South Africa which was then owned by Rio Tinto and Anglo American. In addition to his Lodestone Board responsibilities, Mr Joubert is the Namibian Accredited Agent for several international exploration concerns.

Management & Key Consultants

Daniel Castelyn


Daniel Castelyn is an experienced metallurgist with significant time spent in gold and uranium processing plants. Daniel was a part of the Swakop Uranium processing team responsible for the commissioning and ramp up of the 2.5 billion US$ hydrometallurgical plant with nameplate output of 15 million lbs. U3O8 per year and brings with him a wealth of operational experience.

Daniel holds a BSc. and Msc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town as well as having completed the AngloGold Ashanti Management Trainee Program with a focus on the commissioning, optimization and operation of complex metallurgical plants.

Oscar van Antwerpen


Oscar is both an expert geologist with over 20 years geological experience, as well as the founder and manging director of Minrom Consulting. He is a member of the Geological Society of South Africa, and a registered member of the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions. He has consulted for companies such as Gold Fields, Samancor, BHP Billiton, and DRA International, as an independent resource manager. His most significant career achievement is the successful planning, development and establishment of the Mineral Resource Management department of two well-known manganese mines for BHP Billiton; Wessels underground mine, and Mamatwan open-cast mine. Apart from being an expert geologist, Oscar also developed the first Life of Mine documents. He was appointed as Mineral Resources manager for the Northern Cape manganese division of BHP Billiton.

Dr. Ekkehart Mertins


Dr. Ekkehart Mertins has been in the mineral processing industry for over 55 years with extensive involvement in iron ore processing in northern Africa, Canada and Australia. Dr. Mertins holds a Doctor’s degree in Engineering Sciences from the Technische Universität Clausthal in Germany. Dr. Mertins lead and worked at the SGA, a world renowned iron ore testing facility and laboratory, for over 16 years (1989 to 2005).

Werner Moeller


Werner Moeller has been involved in the development of several key mining projects within Namibia and South Africa. He has over 15 years of experience in mining operations and project consulting. Werner was part of the team that developed the mining model and plan for Swakop Uranium definitive feasibility study (formerly Extract Resources). The project has successfully been implemented at a value of 5 billion US$. Werner continues to assist and advise several mining operations throughout Namibia over a range of metals (copper, uranium and gold).
